As I add 45s to our inventory, I pick select 45s to highlight with mp3 "snippets" so you can hear the music yourself. I only record "snippets" of tunes I particularly like, ones I think have been under-played and under-appreciated, or ones that are so rare and wonderful I'll never hear them otherwise. For myself, I keep an iTunes playlist of these "snippets," and that playlist is one I listen to most often. These pages chronicle the mp3 "snippets" I've added to our online "jukebox" in reverse chronological order. You can browse the pages to see what was added and when. Click on the blue "Play" button to play the snippet, or click on a song's title to load the page. Many of these 45 records are still for sale, though just as many have been sold. I hope you enjoy perusing these pages as much as I have enjoyed putting them together!

Simon & Garfunkel
1970, Columbia AE43
Genre: Folk Rock
Now here's a very rare item... This single was issued only as a radio station promo, presumably released on the heels of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" to promote that single's terrific B side ("Keep Your Customer Satisfied"). But it's the flip side of this promo that makes it even more special to me. "America" is one of the very best songs from the duo's previous album, Bookends, but was never on 45 rpm until this promo. An iconic portrait of a young man's yearning to understand his country, it's a classic that's much beloved by Simon & Garfunkel fans. And now it's available for spinning as a single!

Bobby Bloom
1971, MGM 14212
Genre: Other Northern Soul
This is the kind of single that is just impossible to classify into a neat and tidy category. Bobby Bloom wasn't really a soul singer, but there's actually a very fine line between bubblegum and soul music. Some of Bloom's recordings are clearly pop/bubblegum, but this one is so soulful that I'm putting it into that category. Both sides are simply terrific... great beat, catchy arrangements, soulful singing... what more can you want? And all this at an affordable price, too! Incidentally, I had previously put the A side ("Make Me Happy") in the Classic 45s jukebox, and now, seeing that it's my wife's "All Time Favorite Song," I'm adding the B side as well. As she says, "It's fresh and different and totally catchy."
