The Joy of 45 Collecting: Lost 45 Tunes Not Available from iTunes, Spotify, or Similar Services
Jukebox "Snippet" 45s: Chronological List of Site Additions
As I add 45s to our inventory, I pick select 45s to highlight with mp3 "snippets" so you can hear the music yourself. I only record "snippets" of tunes I particularly like, ones I think have been under-played and under-appreciated, or ones that are so rare and wonderful I'll never hear them otherwise. For myself, I keep an iTunes playlist of these "snippets," and that playlist is one I listen to most often. These pages chronicle the mp3 "snippets" I've added to our online "jukebox" in reverse chronological order. You can browse the pages to see what was added and when. Click on the blue "Play" button to play the snippet, or click on a song's title to load the page. Many of these 45 records are still for sale, though just as many have been sold. I hope you enjoy perusing these pages as much as I have enjoyed putting them together!
This terrific dance number was Sade's only Black/RnB chart-topper and biggest hit, putting together a unique groove that's totally mesmerizing. The label indicates this is a Remix (and edit) of the 4:01 album cut.
The A side is a cover of the Elmore James' Blues classic, remade in a Northern Soul style so different you won't recognize the song if you're familiar with it. By the way, the label says "Dust" is 2:20 long, but when I recorded it the song turned out to be less than 2 minutes! Another nerdy note is that the couple had no Tangerine albums, so this was a non-album single.

Jackey Beavers
1969, Sound Stage 7 2649 Genre: Other Northern Soul
This rare single's A side is a fine Deep Soul number, but it's this terrific Northern Soul dancer on the flip that gets collectors excited. Check out that bass line... awesome!
This dynamite Northern Soul dancer has a rhythm section that just won't quit! Absolutely essential Ray Charles. This amazing 45 appears to be a non-album single.
Dottie West had been fielding Country chart hits since the early 1960s, but this 1980 single was the first time she topped the Billboard Country Singles chart... And it was worth it! What a great song... have a listen to the mp3 "snippet" to see if you don't agree.
This is one of Cale's greatest tracks that nobody ever heard... absolutely delicious to the ear. Have a listen to the mp3 "snippet" to hear what I mean.
There were so many really, really great funk grooves laid down in the early 1980's! Where did they come from, and where have they gone? This one was from the amazing, rarely heard followup to Jones' hit "Pull Up To The Bumper," and really socks it to ya. It's another rare example of a woman basically telling her man to take a hike, and tough if he don't like it. :-)
With a bass line that just won't quit, this single has a dynamite A side, one of only a handful that hit the Billboard charts. Liked it so much I rush-released an mp3 "snippet" so you can hear what got me so excited! :-)
This is an absolutely irresistable nugget of Sunshine Pop... if you're a fan of this style and you haven't heard it, you'll be delighted for sure! "Blue May" was the single's B side.
This terrific single has two great sides, including a dynamite A side dancer ("Soul On Fire") and a completely different but equally enticing B side. Neither track appeared on any contemporary Starr album... this was a non-album single.
Talk about exciting dance music! Have a listen to the mp3 "snippet" of this little gem, and you'll understand why it's so sought-after by fans of Northern Soul and Latin music.
Here's an awesome, uptempo Doo-Wop remake of the Robert & Johnny classic ballad. I liked it so much right off the bat that I quickly made an mp3 "snippet" for our online "jukebox"... have a listen!
