The Joy of 45 Collecting: Lost 45 Tunes Not Available from iTunes, Spotify, or Similar Services
Jukebox "Snippet" 45s: Chronological List of Site Additions
As I add 45s to our inventory, I pick select 45s to highlight with mp3 "snippets" so you can hear the music yourself. I only record "snippets" of tunes I particularly like, ones I think have been under-played and under-appreciated, or ones that are so rare and wonderful I'll never hear them otherwise. For myself, I keep an iTunes playlist of these "snippets," and that playlist is one I listen to most often. These pages chronicle the mp3 "snippets" I've added to our online "jukebox" in reverse chronological order. You can browse the pages to see what was added and when. Click on the blue "Play" button to play the snippet, or click on a song's title to load the page. Many of these 45 records are still for sale, though just as many have been sold. I hope you enjoy perusing these pages as much as I have enjoyed putting them together!
This terrific dancer has a bass line that just won't quit! It's rare for the bass to play the lead for a song's whole duration, but in this case it's a bass riff you'll be grateful to keep front and center!
Not nearly as famous as some of Starr's other Ric-Tic singles, this nugget is a dynamite Motown-style dancer in the same mold as "Stop Her On Sight (S.O.S.)".
Here's another terrific Jan & Dean doo-wop rarity, prior to their becoming a leading light in the nascent surf/cars music scene. Tough to find, but a delight when you do.
Besides the essential garage/psych A side ("Hot Smoke & Sasafrass"), this flip is another argument for ALWAYS checking out B sides... amazing value in one small package!
There aren't too many perfect pop confections that make me smile like this one! It's one that simply must be in our online "jukebox" of mp3 snippets. This early Turtles single isn't as well known as some of their later ones, but after you hear the snippet, I'm sure you'll agree it's one of their very best.
These are two great soul sides from one of the greatest figures in Rock'n'Soul (including country, of course!). This B side is a made-for-dancing, no-holds-barred Northern Soul number that'll partly explain why the album title from which these tracks were taken is named The Many New Sides of Charlie Rich.
