(C45s)Sweet Pea by Tommy Roe
Flip side is Sheila by Tommy Roe

Label: Roulette GG-117 Year: 1966
Condition: M $9.00
No images available.Originally released on ABC-Pmt. 10762. (Most copies appeared on the ABC label.) This is a new copy of the Roulette "Golden Goodies" reissue. This great double-feature reissue shows the very interesting evolution in Tommy Roe's vision of what would become known as "Bubblegum" rock. By "Sweet Pea" in 1966, his vision is complete ? and he joined Tommy James, Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart, and many others in offering a clear statement of not only Bubblegum, but of what it means to be a catchy pop song. When he recorded "Sheila" 4 years earlier, his vision was on the right path ? taking the childish hiccup and his fondness for simple, catchy rhythms and rhymes from Buddy Holly's repertoire, and emphasizing those elements in a way that was more tribute than wholly Tommy Roe. Ah, but then he unleashed "Sweet Pea," and Bubblegum Rock would never be the same. Note that this reissue has Stereo mixes rather than the Mono originals.
