This is truly one of the recordings that made Rock'n'Roll the phenomenon that it became. Coming smack in the middle of the year that the music first blossomed on top 40 radio, it's indelibly etched into our collective cultural memory. :-) It was so beloved in the early years of Rock'n'Roll that, in a chart rarity, the song managed to hit the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart in three separate years, though it was never as big a hit again as in the first release in 1956. This is a beautiful copy of the cool multicolor "burning logs" Ember label from the 1960 pressing, which reached #81 in January 1960. (A third release in 1961 only managed to reach #99... but still!) Throughout all the releases, the catalog number remained 1005. By the way, the B side is a terrific jump doo-wop number. Note: This copy has bright labels with no ringwear, but their Near Mint grade reflects some light outer-ringwear (see scan). The vinyl grades EX because of some light scuffing, but the gorgeous audio grades Near Mint, with only very light surface noise audible at the beginning.
