Devil or Angel/ Hey, Doll BabyThis is a new, unplayed copy of the 1960's pressing on the red Atlantic label. (The label has no mention of Warner Bros., so this was released before Warner bought Atlantic in 1968.) The original 45 has the yellow label. As Dave Marsh notes in adding it to his list of the 1001 greatest singles of all time,
Bobby Vee later corrupted the song but Buddy Bailey's trembling lead vocal [on the Clovers original version] will remain pure until some vinyl version of Dutch elm disease eliminates every last copy of the disc.
Well, Dutch elm has struck yet, but this is the first copy of this great single I've had in the store since opening almost 7 years ago!
