(C45s)Where Evil Grows/ I Was Wondering by The Poppy Family

Label: London 148 Year: 1971
Factory sleeve included
Condition: M $8.00
No images available. This is a surprising and powerful pop song, interesting both lyrically and musically. When the electric guitar break comes after the first 2 verses, you know you never understood Terry Jacks and his wife Susan. Jacks clearly had a lot of great pop tunes inside him, but then became universally derided with his hit recording of the Jacque Brel/Rod McKuen song "Seasons in the Sun," which the Kingston Trio had recorded in the early 1960's. On the basis of the two songs on this single, it's clear that rediscovering the Poppy Family--their 45 output at least--would be worthwhile. The Poppy Family was the husband-and-wife duo Terry and Susan Jacks. On this single, they share lead vocals on the A side, while Susan takes over lead on the flip. Note: This Mint copy comes in a vintage London Records factory sleeve.
