Stereo/Stereo promo copy. As much as I love the Elton John original, I have to say that Rod's version is even better. This was the first time I ever heard that throaty singer, and I was hooked right away. Amazing that this one didn't crack the chart... it wasn't until his next single, 'Maggie May', that most of the world discovered Rod Stewart's talent. Collector Nerd Alert: Oddly, there were two different U.S. promos released for this single, one with Mono on both sides, and this one, with Stereo. Usually, the record company would release one promo with Mono on one side and Stereo on the other. I'd be interested to learn the history behind this approach. Note: This copy comes in a vintage Mercury Records factory sleeve. It has Near Mint labels, with a date stamp on one side and a small stained area on the other. The vinyl (styrene) looks almost untouched, but the audio, while undistorted, has a bit of surface noise, grading a strong EX. Condition Detail:Label: M- (sst) | Vinyl: M- | Audio: EX+Written by: E.
