From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy, in its original picture sleeve. Let me tell you, it's hard finding the "Tapestry" singles (this one and "It's Too Late") in good enough condition to sell here on Classic 45s. That's because the pressings are on fragile (but gorgeous when Mint) styrene wax rather than vinyl, which is a bit sturdier (if noiser with standard or lower quality vinyl, typically used for 45s), and copies that look gorgeous can sound horrendous if the owner played the record repeatedly on less-than-hi-fi equipment. So let me express how grateful I am to have found among one stash of new, unplayed records a Mint copy of "So Far Away," with the darkly prescient, but nicely rocking "Smackwater Jack" on the flip. Its picture sleeve is also in gorgeous condition, with just a hint of age-related wear at the top edge. Chart Collector Nerd Alert: Both sides of this great single received airplay, and though they were not charted separately in Billboard, Billboard showed both songs as hits in their Hot 100 Singles listings, with the only difference being that "Smackwater Jack" wasn't listed with "So Far Away" as a double-sided hit in the first week (the single was on the Billboard Hot 100 list for 10 weeks in all.)
