(C45s)Dear Lady Twist/ Havin' So Much Fun by Gary U.S. Bonds

Label: Legrand 1015 Year: 1961
Condition: M- $44.00
Dear Lady Twist/ Havin' So Much FunThis is a new, unplayed stock copy from the Louise Neal collection. This is the ultra-rare first pressing of this hit single, which for most of its life was known as "Dear Lady Twist." (We are using the historical title of the single rather than "Dear Lady" because from the standpoint of the singer's discography, it's the same song on the same catalog number. This Louise Neal copy is a rare variant, with the original short title. I wouldn't want users who may be searching for "Dear Lady Twist" not to find this copy just because its title doesn't have "Twist" in it. On the other hand, users who may be looking for the rare variant will find this copy by looking at the available records' descriptions and prices. Nerd alert: This first pressing was originally intended to promote "Havin' So Much Fun", but after the company quickly added "Twist" to the "B" side title, that song took off, and by early January 1962, Legrand was plugging this single as "Dear Lady Twist." "Havin' So Much Fun" never charted at all. Note: The A side label has no flaws worth noting, and the B side has just one (a tiny touch of ringwear). The vinyl (styrene) grades Near Mint to reflect some light storage wear. The audio is pristine Mint, capturing without flaw the naturally muddy sound Legrand studios was famous for. :-)
