You Really Got Me/ It's All Right by The Kinks

Label: Reprise 0306 Year: 1964
Condition: M $35.00
You Really Got Me/ It's All RightFrom a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy. This is one of the seminal singles in the genesis of what became known as Garage Rock. Surprisingly (and disappointingly to fans of this and the group's next blockbuster, "All The Day And All Of The Night"), the group abandoned garage rock almost as soon as they had helped get it off the ground. Oh well, no problem. Just give me "You Really Got Me" any time you like! By the way, this copy represents another first for Classic 45s and my own personal collecting history: A beautiful, Mint copy of this important Kinks hit (which occupies spot #597 on Dave Marsh's list and #80 on Rolling Stone's)! What makes this extra special? This styrene pressing has pristine Mint audio... no noise or distortion whatsoever that I could discern... both sides. What a treat! Be sure to also cherish the grungy B side rocker, which as it turns out is a non-album cut. This is the second pressing on the orange/brown Reprise label introduced on #0320 (see scan). First pressings were on the peach-colored label and are worth about $5.00 more. Note: This gorgeous copy has Mint vinyl (styrene) and audio. I've graded the labels Near Mint to reflect some faint storage wear, mainly on the B side, but am grading the record Mint overall.
