Drinkin' Wine, Spo-Dee-O-Dee/ Blues Mixture (I'd Rather Drink Muddy Water)

Originally released on 78 rpm with the same catalog number. This 1971 reissue is the first time this classic recording was released on 45 rpm. Wynonie Harris, who was a huge R&B star at the time, released a cover version a month or so after McGhee's. Harris' version also went Top 10 on the "race" chart, but it still wasn't as big a hit as the original, which was also a Top 40 pop hit!
